Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Orthotic / Prosthetic Technician to join our specialized healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in medical device fabrication and repair, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to improving patient mobility and quality of life. As an Orthotic / Prosthetic Technician, you will be responsible for creating, adjusting, and maintaining custom orthotic and prosthetic devices that meet precise specifications and patient needs. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where technical expertise directly enhances patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate, assemble, and modify orthotic and prosthetic devices according to detailed prescriptions and technical specifications.
- Utilize advanced tools and materials to ensure the durability, comfort, and functionality of each device.
- Conduct precise measurements, fittings, and adjustments to optimize device fit and performance for individual patients.
- Collaborate closely with orthotists, prosthetists, and healthcare professionals to interpret treatment plans and implement effective solutions.
- Maintain accurate documentation of fabrication processes, modifications, and patient interactions in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and quality checks on devices to ensure ongoing safety and effectiveness.
- Stay current with technological advancements in orthotic and prosthetic fabrication techniques, including materials science and digital modeling tools.
- Sewing straps & various other materials such as Velcro.
- Filling & stripping Plaster & fiberglass casts
- Grinding Plastic AFO's & Foot orthotics
- Covering Foot Orthotics with various covering & finishing
- Assembling Shoe lifts on Various types of Shoes
Qualifications
- Proven experience or training in orthotic or prosthetic device fabrication is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology relevant to orthotics and prosthetics.
- Proficiency with hand tools, digital modeling software, and fabrication equipment used in device creation.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to follow complex technical instructions accurately.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with healthcare teams and explaining device features to patients.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of quality assurance.
- A background in biomedical engineering or related health sciences is advantageous but not mandatory.
