IPM Magnetics is currently seeking a Well-Bore Survey Technician to join our dynamic team at our South Edmonton office. In this specialized role, you'll apply magnetic survey bias corrections to real-time and post-run oil and gas wellbore data—ensuring accuracy, consistency, and insight in every measurement.
This is a unique opportunity to work in a 24/7 real-time operations center, supporting drilling crews and ensuring the integrity of directional data essential to drilling operations.
About the Role
As a Survey Technician, you’ll:
- Apply survey corrections and perform QA/QC on wellbore data.
- Monitor live drilling data and flag potential inconsistencies.
- Communicate findings clearly to field crews and internal teams.
Follow a rotating schedule:
- Week 1:12-hour day shifts
- Week 2:Off
- Week 3: 12-hour night shifts
- Week 4: Off
- That’s 2 weeks of work per month—giving you half the year off to pursue other interests, personal goals, or part-time work. We support a flexible, balanced lifestyle on your off-rotation week
- Be based on-site in our Edmonton office—no field travel required.
Who You Are
We're looking for someone who is:
- Detail-oriented and tech-savvy, with a passion for accuracy.
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a technical team.
- Open to learning a highly specialized discipline—training provided!
- Strong computer skills—especially with spreadsheets and technical software.
Qualifications
- 1–2 years of experience in data analysis or field work preferred.
- Post-secondary education in math, geoscience, engineering, or a technical field is an asset.
- Strong computer skills, with an aptitude for Excel, data visualization, and/or surveying software.
- Comfortable with statistics, basic trigonometry, and interpreting technical data.
