Silver Valley Fire Protection Ltd. is seeking an experienced Journeyperson Service Sprinkler Fitter to join our growing team.
This position is focused primarily on service, inspections, repairs, troubleshooting, and deficiency work on commercial, residential, and industrial fire sprinkler systems. The ideal candidate is dependable, mechanically skilled, comfortable working independently, and capable of communicating professionally with customers, property managers, and other trades.
We are also open to reviewing applications from experienced sprinkler apprentices with at least four years of trade experience, as well as certified Fire Alarm Technicians interested in transitioning into the sprinkler trade. Applications will be considered based on experience, qualifications, and overall suitability for the position.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair fire sprinkler systems.
- Diagnose system issues and recommend appropriate repairs or corrective action.
- Complete service calls, emergency repairs, and quoted deficiency work.
- Perform annual, three-year, and five-year inspections and testing as required.
- Work on wet, dry, pre-action, standpipe, fire pump, backflow, and related fire protection systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and manufacturer specifications.
- Complete accurate service reports, inspection documentation, deficiency reports, and material lists.
- Clearly communicate site findings and recommendations to customers and the office.
- Coordinate with building representatives, property managers, and other trades while on site.
- Maintain an organized service vehicle, tools, equipment, and inventory.
- Follow company safety policies, WorkSafeBC requirements, and applicable codes and standards.
- Work independently while also supporting other technicians and project crews when required.
Qualifications
- Valid Journeyperson or Red Seal Sprinkler Fitter certification is required for applicants applying as a journeyperson.
- Sprinkler apprentices with at least four years of relevant trade experience may be considered depending on their service experience, qualifications, and ability to work independently.
- Certified Fire Alarm Technicians interested in transitioning into the sprinkler trade are encouraged to apply. Relevant experience and qualifications will be reviewed individually.
- Previous experience performing sprinkler service, inspections, repairs, and troubleshooting.
- Strong knowledge of fire sprinkler systems, valves, piping, fittings, and related equipment.
- Ability to diagnose problems and complete repairs with minimal supervision.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with applicable fire protection codes, standards, and inspection requirements.
- Backflow Assembly Tester certification is considered an asset.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency with hand and power tools.
- Professional communication and customer-service skills.
- Ability to complete clear and accurate electronic reports and documentation.
- Valid driver’s licence with a clean driving record.
- Ability to safely lift materials, climb ladders, and work in mechanical rooms, parkades, attics, and other job-site environments.
