Role Summary
The Project Manager (PM) for Phenolic Façade Systems and Phenolic Lockers at Allied Technical Solutions (ATS) oversees projects from initial intake (PO) through engineering, fabrication, delivery, and closeout. This role ensures that all phenolic system projects—exterior cladding, interior wall systems, and locker installations—are executed with precision, proactive communication, and strong technical oversight.
The PM acts as the central coordinator between Sales, Estimating, Engineering, Operations, production, and Clients, ensuring clarity of scope, timely deliverables, and a seamless project experience.
Key Responsibilities
Project Intake & Scope Definition
- Lead Gate 0 Intake — Validate PO, confirm phenolic system scope, and ensure alignment with Sales/Estimating documentation.
- Develop Project Charter — Confirm deliverables for phenolic façades or lockers, including panel layouts, hardware requirements, and installation constraints.
- Conduct Turnover Meetings (TOM) — Align internal teams on scope, risks, timelines, and technical requirements specific to phenolic materials.
- Create Work Breakdown Structure — For complex high risk projects, break down tasks for engineering (shop drawings, panel optimization, BOM, prototyping), operations (fabrication sequencing), and logistics.
Planning, Scheduling & Coordination
- Build Master Schedule — Including milestones, submittal cycles, procurement of phenolic sheets, fabrication, and delivery.
- Coordinate Cross‑Functional Teams — Ensure Engineering, Sales Operations, Production and Logistics stay aligned on design, material delivery, phenolic panel cutting, and assembly.
- Manage Submittal & RFI Cycles — Drive timely responses for panel layouts, mounting details, color selections, and hardware clarifications.
- Monitor Critical Path — Identify delays early, especially around long‑lead phenolic materials or installer readiness.
Client, Architect & Installer Communication
- Serve as Primary Client Liaison — Maintain proactive communication with architects, GCs, and installers for façade and locker projects.
- Lead Technical Clarifications — Coordinate responses to design conflicts, substrate compatibility, ventilation requirements, and mounting systems.
- Manage Change Orders — Document scope changes such as panel color revisions, locker configuration changes, or additional accessories.
- Conduct Progress Reviews — Provide structured updates on engineering progress, fabrication status, and delivery timelines.
Risk Management & Quality Assurance
- Maintain Project Risk Log — Track risks related to phenolic sheet availability, color consistency, field conditions, and installation sequencing.
- Perform Constructability Reviews — Validate feasibility of panel layouts, joint details, locker configurations, and mounting systems.
- Ensure Compliance — Confirm alignment with architectural specs, fire ratings, ventilation requirements, and ATS phenolic standards.
- Lead Quality Gate Reviews — Gate checks for engineering completeness, panel optimization accuracy, hardware compatibility, production readiness and quality control.
Execution, Delivery & Closeout
- Oversee Production & Logistics — Ensure phenolic sheet cutting, CNC machining, assembly, and delivery align with project schedule.
- Resolve Site Issues — Support installers with technical guidance on panel alignment, locker anchoring, and field modifications.
- Manage Financial Performance — Track budget, margins, fabrication costs, and change order impacts.
- Lead Project Closeout — Final documentation, warranty packages, lessons learned, and client satisfaction review.
Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
- Phenolic Systems Knowledge — Understanding of phenolic façade systems, locker assemblies, panel optimization, and installation sequencing.
- Project Scheduling Tools — Proficiency in MS Project, Smartsheet, or equivalent.
- Technical Documentation Review — Ability to interpret architectural drawings, panel layouts, locker configurations, and mounting details.
- Contract & PO Interpretation — Familiarity with construction contracts, scopes, and change order processes.
Leadership & Communication
- Cross‑Functional Leadership — Ability to align Engineering, Operations, Sales, and clients on phenolic system requirements.
- Conflict Resolution — Skilled at navigating design conflicts, schedule pressures, and stakeholder disagreements.
- Proactive Communication — Clear, timely, and structured communication with all stakeholders.
- Client Relationship Management — Ability to build trust and maintain long‑term partnerships.
Organizational & Analytical Skills
- Risk Assessment — Ability to identify risks early and implement mitigation plans.
- Detail Orientation — Ensures accuracy in panel layouts, locker configurations, BOMs, schedules, and documentation.
- Process Discipline — Commitment to structured workflows and repeatable processes.
- Problem‑Solving — Ability to resolve issues quickly and creatively.
- Multi-tasking – Ability to manage several short circle projects concurrently
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- 10-year Project Management Experience including 5+ years of experience in façade systems, phenolic products, architectural panels, construction or furniture.
- PMP or equivalent certification preferred.
- Experience working with architects, GCs, installers, and manufacturing teams.
- Ability to work in-person out of our corporate office 5 days a week
