Barking Good Pet Services is a well-established dog daycare, boarding, and training facility located on an acreage in Springbank, just outside Calgary.

We are looking for a dependable and energetic part-time team member who can assist with both customer service needs and hands-on dog care support. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, loves dogs, and understands that excellent animal care requires attention, physical activity, teamwork, and consistency.
The Position:
This is a blended role that includes Customer Experience and Dog Care Support.
The successful candidate must be comfortable moving between administrative responsibilities and active, hands-on work with dogs.
Front Desk Responsibilities
- Greet clients warmly and professionally.
- Assist with dog arrivals and departures.
- Review reservations, feeding instructions, medications, and client information.
- Respond to texts, emails, and client questions.
- Process payments and complete basic administrative tasks.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate important information to the animal-care team.
- Prepare feeding charts, kennel information, labels, and daily paperwork.
- Monitor supplies and help keep the reception and front areas organized.
- Communicate calmly and professionally when clients have questions or concerns.
- Support the smooth flow of daily operations during busy arrival and departure periods.
Dog Care Support Responsibilities
- Supervise dogs during group play, outdoor activities, rest periods, and transitions.
- Assist with safely moving dogs between yards, buildings, kennels, and activity areas.
- Observe dog behaviour, body language, energy levels, and social interactions.
- Recognize and report health concerns, injuries, behavioural changes, or unusual symptoms.
- Follow individual feeding, medication, enrichment, and care instructions.
- Clean and sanitize kennels, indoor areas, yards, dishes, bedding, and equipment.
- Refill water, prepare meals, complete laundry, and maintain organized care areas.
- Assist Lead staff with managing playgroups and maintaining a safe environment.
- Remain actively engaged with the dogs throughout the shift.
- Follow all safety, sanitation, gate-checking, and communication procedures.

Previous experience in dog daycare, boarding, veterinary care, grooming, training, reception, customer service, or animal care is an asset. However, we are willing to train the right person who demonstrates reliability, sound judgment, and a genuine desire to learn.
Physical Requirements
This is an active position. Applicants must be able to:
- Work both indoors and outdoors in changing Alberta weather.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Bend, crouch, kneel, reach, and move throughout the facility.
- Lift and carry approximately 25 pounds or more.
- Safely handle dogs of different sizes, strengths, and energy levels.
- Work around barking, dog hair, cleaning products, water, mud, and normal animal-care odours.
- Respond quickly when a dog or safety situation requires immediate attention.
Schedule Availability
This position is designed to provide regular weekend coverage, along with limited weekday opening or closing support.
The expected schedule will include:
- Regular Saturday and Sunday shifts.
- Availability on statutory holidays and during busy boarding periods.
- One or two weekday opening or closing shifts each week.
- Occasional additional shifts to assist with vacation, illness, or operational coverage.
Typical weekday opening and closing coverage may fall within the following hours:
Monday–Friday:
6:00 am – 7:00 pm
Saturday, Sunday, and statutory holidays:
8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Applicants must be consistently available on weekends. This position is not suitable for someone seeking weekday-only employment or occasional weekend work.
Location and Transportation
Barking Good Pet Services is located on an acreage in the Springbank area, west of Calgary.
Applicants must have reliable personal transportation. Public transit does not service our location, and dependable transportation is essential for opening, closing, weekend, and winter shifts.
