Overview
Avison Management Services Ltd. is a well-established and growing Environmental and Forestry Consulting Company with operations across British Columbia. We are currently seeking an Intermediate Registered Professional Biologist (R. P. Bio) to join our team. This position will include both field and office-based work focused in Fisheries, Aquatic Ecology, and Environmental Management.
Qualifications
- Candidate must be a Professional Biologist in good standing with the B.C. College of Applied Biologists.
- Preferred 2-3 years of experience in the field(s) of fisheries, aquatic ecology, stream restoration and /or wildlife biology.
- Strong report writing and verbal communication skills, including client relationship skills.
- The flexibility to work within other disciplines as needed.
- Previous experience in stream restoration is a desired asset.
- Previous experience in baseline data collection and reporting in association with the EA process is a desired asset.
- Previous experience in collecting water quality and hydrometric data is an asset.
- Education and previous experience in wildlife biology and survey techniques is an asset.
Responsibilities
- Act as field lead for various environmental related projects including but not limited to fish and fish habitat inventory, wildlife surveys, and stream restoration.
- In conjunction with the project manager, plan and carry out stream restoration projects.
- Understand federal and provincial fish, wildlife, water quality and environmental regulatory requirements.
- Work with regulators to prepare and submit various permit applications.
- Act as a QEP on various projects.
- Participate in or lead wildlife surveys.
- Expand project opportunities through successful funding applications and develop client relationships.
- Based in Vanderhoof but fieldwork may require travel and remote camp work.
Avison Management offers an attractive wage range between $32-$44 per hour, dependent on experience, as well as an attractive benefits package.
