The part-time academic will be responsible for teaching: SLWK 3109 Sec 52, “Indigenizing & Decolonizing Social Work”. The course will be offered in the Winter Term, from January-April 2027. Note: this is an online course and is part of the BSW program.
Course description: A diversity of Indigenous perspectives and practices for social work are introduced. Students will analyze the historical and contemporary experiences of Canada’s Indigenous peoples and consider the implications for practice. Indigenous knowing, doing, and being is emphasized. Students examine their positionality and use critical reflection to decolonize their practices.
The part-time academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the course, including preparing and delivering lectures, grading of assignments, and online consultation with students. Online courses are taught using Brightspace. In addition, the part-time academic should expect to be engaged in course preparations for one-two months preceding course delivery.
