As a Purchaser, you will help keep our multi‑location network running smoothly by ensuring materials are sourced accurately, efficiently, and on time.
We are seeking a detail‑oriented, analytical Purchaser to support our multi‑location distribution and manufacturing network. This role ensures product availability by converting replenishment signals into accurate purchase orders while balancing service levels, lead times, inventory investment, and commodity‑driven cost fluctuations—particularly within lumber and engineered wood products.
Responsibilities:
- Create and release purchase orders in line with replenishment signals, min/max settings, and buying policies.
- Manage open purchase orders, confirmations, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
- Execute replenishment strategies defined by Inventory and Supply Chain leadership.
- Monitor demand, stock positions, and service risks to inform purchasing decisions.
- Follow purchasing standards, approvals, and internal controls in all system activity.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts that strengthen purchasing processes and data quality.
Experience & Qualifications
- 1-3 years’ experience purchasing in a distribution, wholesale, or manufacturing environment.
- Supply Chain/procurement certificate
- Working knowledge of ERP and purchasing systems.
- Knowledge of lumber commodities (pricing drivers, grades, and market volatility) is considered an asset.
- Understanding of purchasing processes, lead times, and inventory flow.
- Strong communication skills, follow-through, and problem-solving ability.
