One of our clients is seeking compassionate and clinically skilled Registered Nurses (RNs) and Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) to join a multidisciplinary team in a residential mental health and addictions treatment environment.
This role is ideal for nursing professionals passionate about addictions medicine, withdrawal management, trauma-informed care, and supporting individuals through recovery and stabilization.
Responsibilities
· Conduct client intakes, nursing assessments, and ongoing health evaluations
· Complete and document:
o CIWA (Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment for Alcohol)
o COWS (Clinical Opiate Withdrawal Scale) assessments
· Monitor clients’:
o Vital signs
o Mental status
o Withdrawal symptoms
o Physical and emotional wellbeing
· Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and established protocols
· Support symptom-triggered detoxification and withdrawal management care plans
· Respond appropriately to medical emergencies and crisis situations
· Coordinate appointments and communicate with physicians and external healthcare providers
· Provide education related to:
o Medications
o Mental health conditions
o Recovery and relapse prevention
o Harm reduction strategies
· Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records (EMR/EHR)
· Collaborate with physicians, therapists, counselors, and support staff to ensure continuity of care
· Foster a safe, respectful, and therapeutic environment while maintaining confidentiality and professional standards
Required Qualifications
· Current registration and good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as either:
o Registered Nurse (RN), or
o Registered Practical Nurse (RPN)
· Current CPR certification
· Demonstrated experience with CIWA and COWS assessments
· Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and communication skills
· Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
Preferred Experience
Experience in one or more of the following areas is considered an asset:
- Mental health nursing
- Addictions treatment and withdrawal management
- Residential treatment or detox settings
- Crisis intervention and stabilization
- Trauma-informed and harm reduction approaches
- Psychopharmacology and addiction medicine
- Electronic medical record (EMR/EHR) systems
Experience supporting clients with:
- Concurrent disorders
- Anxiety and mood disorders
- PTSD
- Developmental disabilities
- Geriatric mental health concerns
- Current CNO Registration (RN or RPN) – Required
- CPR Certification – Required
- BLS Certification – Preferred
- Medication administration experience – Preferred
Pay: $32.00-$35.00 per hour
