Interim HSEQ Lead: Leading Score (Canada) Ltd.'s HSEQ team in Edmonton for an initial term through November 2027, with a possibility of extension up to a total of 18 months.
We have a fantastic interim opportunity available to support and lead our Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) team in Edmonton - reporting to the General Manager of Score (Canada) Ltd. – Western Division and the Interim HSEQ & Continuous Improvement Manager (Americas), the Interim HSEQ Lead plays a crucial role in overseeing and ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards within the organization. This role involves overseeing system infrastructure, conducting internal audits, maintaining calibration and managing quality management and health & safety systems.

The Interim HSEQ Lead will be adept at managing a team and serves as a leader to help effectively manage HSEQ responsibilities and ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements in Western Canada. They shall provide technical support to the internal Sales and Production teams, and to other departments within Score (Canada) Ltd.
A varied role, the Interim HSEQ Lead's main roles and responsibilities include:
General
- Fulfill an interim commitment while maintaining team continuity
- Assume the role of management representative for Quality and HSE within Score (Canada) Ltd.
- Maintain current accreditations, including but not limited to ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ABSA and COR.
- Manage and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring it is followed and continuously improved.
- Facilitate management review meetings, reporting the effectiveness of the QMS.
- Analyze and ensure timely closure of nonconformance reports (NCRs) and observations related to HSEQ.
- Provide guidance on legislation, policies and procedures that may affect the QMS.
- Maintain control over the Health and Safety program.
- Ensure all established health and safety policies are administered and enforced consistently.
- Work closely with the General Manager to achieve health and safety objectives.
- Coordinate incident and near miss investigations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and reported.
- Provide advice on relevant and appropriate training and development for all employees, including maintenance of training records and training matrices.
- Perform any other duties deemed necessary by the company to fulfil the company’s requirements.
Internal & External Audits
- Plan and conduct internal audits as required by company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Schedule, coordinate and facilitate all external audits with clients, governing bodies, etc.
- Communicate external audits and schedules to employees as necessary.
- Ensure all preparations for external audits are thorough and compliant.
- Ensure findings are documented, communicated, and corrective actions are implemented.
Client Portals and Approvals
- Manage and maintain client portals and approvals related to HSEQ requirements.
Calibration
- Manage and maintain calibrated equipment in accordance with procedural requirements.
Monthly Meetings & Reporting
- Coordinate and participate in HSE committee meetings and other relevant meetings.
- Ensure monthly Score Group reporting requirements related to HSEQ are met.
Test Certification and Final Package Review
- Review test certifications and final project packages to ensure compliance with HSEQ standards.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- In-excess of 3 years proven QA / QC experience, including internal auditing.
- In-excess of 2 years proven HSE experience.
- Experience ideally gained within the Valve industry or related industry, working with pressure vessels or pressure systems.
- A two-year technical degree, diploma, or a related trades experience, is preferred.
- Must possess a nationally recognized certification in Health & Safety management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge
- Familiar with international valve & material standards (ASME, ANSI, DIN, API etc.).
- Procedural knowledge and experience with ABSA PSV regulations & systems.
- Procedural knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 standards, clause requirements, and management principles, along with provincial legislative requirements.
Skills
- Effective communication skills in speaking to others to convey information effectively.
- Excellent relationship building skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Leadership skills in influence and persuasion to inspire action and drive outcomes at all levels
- Computer skills using the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
- Knowledge of English grammar and composition for writing reports.

- Ability to read and understand complex information presented in writing.
- Intelligent with excellent abilities in process analysis, risk identification, and continuous improvement.
