Visiting Angels® is a 24 hours on call health care agency, we are looking for individuals who can travel throughout the Hamilton Region, sometimes on short notice. Areas we service include Hamilton, Stoney Creek, Ancaster, Dundas, Binbrook, Mt Hope, Burlington, Waterdown, and other towns within the Hamilton region. These individuals are self-motivated and able to fully support our clients.
Visiting Angels® Inc. offers services to seniors, chronically and terminally ill persons, individuals with acquired brain injuries, persons with developmental and physical disabilities, childcare for children of all ages and more specialized services based on client need.
Qualifications and Experiences
College/CEGEP
2 years to less than 3 years

- First Aid Certificate
- CPR Certificate
- Licensure as a practical nurse in Ontario
- Completion of the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certificate
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate
- Certified Nurse in Critical Care - Canada (CNCC-C)
- Acute care nursing Certificate
- Tracheostomy care training

Licensed Practical Nurse Specific Skills
- Monitor established respiratory therapy and intravenous therapy
- Provide safety and health education to individuals and their families
- Administer medication and observe and document therapeutic effects
- Take vital signs, apply aseptic techniques including sterile dressing, ensure infection control, monitor nutritional intake and conduct specimen collection
- Provide nursing services, within defined scope of practice, to patients based on patient assessment and care planning procedures
- Monitor patients' progress, evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions and consult with appropriate members of healthcare team
