We are recruiting for an experienced Project Engineer, based out of our Calgary office. The ideal candidate will provide engineering and management support for our upstream oil & gas processing facilities. The role will support our operations at the Judy Creek Production Facility, Judy Creek Gas Plant, Redwater, Carson Creek and Deer Mountain.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Define and monitor the project scope, cost estimate, schedule, and execution
- Interact with the operations team to define their requirements and ensure they are reflected in the project scope
- Ensure project compliance to applicable specifications, codes, and corporate practices relating to safety, quality, and performance
- Ensure procurement activities support the construction schedule, competent contractors with adequate resources are selected for each task, and invoices are direct billed to Conifer
- Manage the project engineering and construction contractors with continuous technical support through construction and start-up
- Ensure a high level of communication is maintained across all disciplines within the project team
- Hosting of and participation in client/team meetings
- Ensure field verification of designs prior to issue of work packages
- Be available to go to the field, on average once every month or two for a day or two in the Whitecourt or Redwater area
- Perform MOC/Small Jobs scoping, design and execution
- Responsible for quality control of all project deliverables with a focus on management of change, HAZOP, and deliverable approval/sign-off
- Ensure development of quality construction work packages
- Provide prompt responses to operations and field requests from construction
- Prepare monthly reports regarding project status
QUALIFICATIONS
- Engineering degree from a recognized educational institution and registered as a professional member with APEGA
- 5-15 years’ experience providing project engineering support to upstream oil & gas facilities with proven field and construction support experience
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage a variety of multi-disciplined projects at the same time with results provided in a timely manner
- Strong knowledge of EPC workflow processes and ability to practically apply them to deliver projects safely, on budget, on schedule and with all performance metrics met
- Team player with highly developed communication skills and an ability to work in an operations focused environment
- Ability to prepare schedules in MS Projects
- Strong in troubleshooting, problem-solving, and client management
- Experience with CO2, power generation and enhanced oil recovery is an asset
