Job Overview
The Heath, Safety and Compliance Coordinator will be highly organized and proactive working closely with the HSE Manager and will serve as the central hub for our safety administration across 11 branches.
This position is primarily responsible for the end-to-end management of WCB claims, partnering with the HSE Manager to coordinate claim activities, support return-to-work programs, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations.
Additionally, you will be responsible for ensuring National Safety Code (NSC) compliance and coordinating safety initiatives to foster a strong Internal Responsibility System.

Key Responsibilities:
Program Coordination & Compliance
· Act as a coordinator for internal and external Certificate of Recognition (COR) audits, liaising closely with our certifying partner (AMTA).
· Coordinate and participate in Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings, preparing agendas, recording minutes, and tracking action items.
· Follow up with branch managers on corrective actions stemming from incident investigations and hazard assessments to ensure they are closed out efficiently.
· Collaborate with the H&S management team to draft, review, and continuously update corporate safety policies and Safe Work Procedures (SWPs).
WCB Administration & Disability Management
· Act as a primary point of contact for WCB-Alberta claims, filing employer incident reports and maintaining accurate claims documentation.
· Work collaboratively with the Safety Advisor to manage complex claims, facilitate Return to Work (RTW) programs, and coordinate modified work duties for injured employees.
Transportation Compliance (National Safety Code)
· Audit and upload driver Hours of Service (HOS) logs.
· Monitor fleet telematics to track driving behaviors and violations, generating and distributing regular Driver Scorecards to promote safe driving habits
Training & Communication
· Develop, upload, and manage employee training matrices and compliance within Workhub.
· Design educational materials, safety bulletins, and presentations to effectively convey safety protocols across various departments.
· Provide guidance on the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials (WHMIS/TDG).
Data Tracking & Reporting
· Track and trend safety inspections, hazard assessments, and incidents across all 11 company branches.
· Prepare detailed monthly reports on leading and lagging safety performance metrics for the management team.
Job Requirements
- Previous experience in a logistics environment is considered a strong asset.

- Must adhere to all safety protocols, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). (Safety vests are provided by the organization; however, employees are required to supply their own steel-toe footwear.)

Qualifications and Skills
· Strong foundational knowledge of Alberta OH&S legislation. Experience with the Alberta Motor Transport Association (AMTA) and COR auditing is a major asset.
· Minimum 2-3 year of dedicated experience in an OHS, safety coordination, or safety administrative role, with specific experience handling WCB claims (Required).
· Detail-oriented with strong analytical abilities. Must possess excellent communication skills to work collaboratively with the HSE Manager and across various departments.
· Must demonstrate clear proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English at an intermediate to advanced level.
· High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience managing safety software (e.g., Workhub). Experience with fleet telematics/HOS software is highly preferred.
Certifications/Requirements
- 1 year of hands-on experience in a safety-related role.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Handling WCB claims: 2 years (required)
