Job Overview
Carevera Health Services Inc. is currently seeking a compassionate, reliable, and professional Female Personal Support Worker (PSW) Independent Contractor to support a 25-year-old female client located in North York.
Please note: the client has specifically requested a female PSW due to personal care preferences.
This is a casual independent contractor position with short 1–2 hour shifts and flexible scheduling (except Wednesday mornings). Additional shifts and hours my become available over time based on client needs and service demsnd.
Duties
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting)
- Provide companionship and emotional support
- Support safe mobility, transfers, and ambulation (Hoyer lift required as needed)
- Assist with meal preparation and light housekeeping
- Monitor and report changes in clients health or behavior
- Follow care plans and maintain client dignity and respect
- Drive to client homes in Toronto and surrounding areas for scheduled shifts
- G-tube feeding support (training provided)
- Assistance with makeup application and hairstyling for occasional events/outing
Available Shifts
- Tuesday afternoons
- Wednesday mornings (6:30 AM – 8:30 AM)
- Sunday mornings or afternoons before 2pm
Shift times are flexible except Wednesday mornings, as care must be completed before 8:30 AM due to the client’s work schedule.
Requirements
- Experience in assisted living, nursing home settings, or senior care is preferred.
- Familiarity with hospice care practices is a plus.
- PSW Diploma
- Valid CPR/First Aid certification
- Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) required
- Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities or dementia care is highly valued.
- Proof of professional liability insurance required
- Strong caregiving skills, including knowledge of home care practices.
- Ability to perform cleaning tasks effectively while maintaining a hygienic environment.
- Excellent communication skills and a compassionate demeanor when interacting with clients and their families.
- Ability to work independently
