Job Overview
We’re hiring a Mold Shop Technician to help build the architectural formwork used to produce high-end cast elements (concrete / plaster). This role is hands-on and detail-driven: you’ll take architectural drawings and turn them into accurate, straight, true molds and forms.
We’re looking for someone teachable, adaptable, and interested in growing into a leadership role as they gain experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret architectural drawings and shop drawings (plans, sections, elevations, details)
- Build and assemble molds/formwork for architectural castings (walls, ceilings, trims, features, etc.)
- Maintain accuracy: straight, square, true forms; clean edges and consistent tolerances
- Use basic shop tools safely and effectively (measuring, cutting, fastening, assembling)
- Organize work: label molds/jobs clearly; track job status and deadlines
- Support casting workflows with basic understanding of concrete and plaster (handling, cure timing, protection of molds)
- Work efficiently and make strong use of shop time to meet production targets
- Collaborate with the team and step into leadership responsibilities over time (mentoring, quality checks, coordinating tasks)
Required Skills & Experience
- Ability to read architectural drawings (must-have)
- Basic knowledge of tools and measuring (tape, square, level, fasteners, etc.)
- Understanding of mold/form making fundamentals (or strong related carpentry/fabrication experience)
- High attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Strong teamwork and communication
- Teachable mindset: willing to learn new methods, processes, and standards (this is critical)
Nice to Have
- Experience in mold making, formwork, cabinetry, scenic/prop fabrication, composites, or set building
- Familiarity with concrete/plaster casting, release agents, reinforcement considerations, and finishing
- Experience leading a small crew or acting as a working lead

Pay: $28.00-$38.00 per hour
