About the role:
The Manager, Enterprise Analytics provides strategic, operational, and people leadership within the Enterprise Analytics & Health Information Management portfolio. Operating within Southlake Health's Distributed Health Network (DHN) strategy and LHS approach, the Manager advances the organization's Advanced Analytics and Population Health Management capabilities to enable evidence-informed decision-making, embedded applied research, knowledge translation and exchange, continuous learning, and data literacy across the organization.
The Manager is responsible for the delivery and continuous evolution of enterprise analytics services, including decision support, business intelligence, data architecture, data engineering, data governance, advanced analytics, performance measurement, and reporting. The Manager leads a multidisciplinary team of analytics professionals and partners closely with clinical, operational, financial, physician, research, quality improvement, digital health, and corporate leaders to develop trusted data assets, advanced analytics capabilities, and scalable business intelligence solutions that maximize quality, outcomes, and efficiency.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative and strategic leader with expertise in healthcare analytics, enterprise performance measurement, case-mix methodologies, clinical documentation improvement, and data governance. The successful candidate possesses exceptional communication, relationship-building, and project leadership skills and thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced healthcare environment.
What you'll be doing:
- Develop, implement, and continuously evolve Southlake Health’s Enterprise Analytics Roadmap, aligning analytics investments and capabilities with the organization's DHN strategy, LHS approach, Strategic Plan, Digital Health Plan, and Clinical Services Plan.
- Lead the advancement of enterprise analytics capabilities across the descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics continuum, enabling data-driven insights that maximize quality, outcomes, and efficiency.
- Grow high-quality Data Content that enables embedded applied research, evidence-informed practice, and knowledge translation to bridge the gap between research and care delivery.
- Build and modernize Data Infrastructure through Southlake's Leading Edge Analytics Platform (LEAP), enabling secure, trusted, timely, and actionable insights across the organization.
- Shape Data Governance as an enterprise-wide framework of people, policies, processes, and standards that ensures the secure, high-quality management of clinical, corporate, and operational data throughout its lifecycle while enabling trusted data for care delivery, planning, innovation, and health equity.
- Develop Analytics Competency by fostering organizational data literacy, advancing self-service analytics, and building the capabilities of leaders, clinicians, and staff to effectively use data and analytics for evidence-informed decision-making, continuous improvement, and innovation.
- Champion innovation through the adoption of advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to enable proactive clinical risk intervention, improve quality of care, population health outcomes, and the economics of care, and strengthen evidence-based decision-making through enhanced care visibility, performance measurement, and waste reduction.
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for the delivery and continuous evolution of Enterprise Analytics services, including decision support, business intelligence, data architecture, data engineering, data governance, advanced analytics, performance measurement, and reporting.
- Establish departmental priorities, objectives, workplans, service standards, and analytics portfolio governance processes to ensure sustainable, scalable, and high-quality analytics services aligned with organizational priorities.
- Develop and manage departmental operating budgets, contracts, and technology investments to ensure effective stewardship of organizational resources and alignment with strategic priorities.
- Apply design-led innovation principles to co-design, develop, implement, and continuously improve enterprise analytics products, services, and delivery models that maximize quality, outcomes, and efficiency.
- Ensure the accurate, timely, and reliable delivery of mandatory internal and external reporting requirements while maintaining the highest standards of data quality, integrity, and reliability.
- Collaborate across the organization to strengthen enterprise data governance, data quality, metadata management, information stewardship, and master data management, ensuring enterprise analytics solutions are supported by trusted, standardized, and well-governed data assets.
- Establish and promote enterprise standards, policies, and best practices for analytics intake, prioritization, solution development, reporting, documentation, and data management.
- Serve as the senior Enterprise Analytics advisor to executive leadership, physician leaders, directors, managers, researchers, and external partners on enterprise analytics strategy, case-mix methodologies, clinical utilization, performance measurement, and reporting.
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with internal departments and external organizations, including Ontario Health, the Ministry of Health, CIHI, academic institutions, Ontario Health Teams, and peer hospitals to advance analytics, performance measurement, and LHS approaches.
- Represent Enterprise Analytics on organizational, regional, and provincial committees, working groups, and strategic initiatives.
- Lead, mentor, coach, and develop a high-performing multidisciplinary Enterprise Analytics team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, continuous learning, and exceptional service delivery.
- Establish departmental objectives, monitor performance, manage financial and human resources, and support recruitment, succession planning, employee engagement, and professional development to ensure a high-performing and future-ready analytics workforce.
What you bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Health Administration, Health Informatics, Business Administration, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Management, or a related discipline from an accredited institution is required.
- Master's degree in Health Administration, Health Informatics, Business Administration, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Management, or a related discipline is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and progressive leadership experience may be considered.
- One or more of the following professional certifications is considered an asset:
- Certified Health Information Management (CHIM)
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Certified Health Executive (CHE)
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS)
- Minimum five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in enterprise analytics, business intelligence, decision support, health information management, or related healthcare analytics disciplines, leading multidisciplinary teams, enterprise programs, or strategic initiatives.
- Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare analytics, business intelligence, enterprise performance measurement, data governance, information management, and LHS principles.
- Strong understanding of artificial intelligence, machine learning, predictive analytics, and population health management to support evidence-informed decision-making and innovation.
- Expert knowledge of Ontario healthcare reporting standards, including the Management Information System (MIS) Guidelines, Ontario Hospital Reporting System (OHRS), Accountability Agreements, and mandatory provincial reporting requirements.
- Expert knowledge of Ontario hospital funding methodologies, case-mix methodologies (CMG+, CACS, HIG, RUG-III, RPGs, SCIPP), and provincial datasets including DAD, NACRS, CCRS/IRRS, NRS, OMHRS, and Access to Care Wait Times (Surgery, Diagnostic Imaging, Emergency Department, and Alternate Level of Care), with demonstrated experience evaluating the impact of clinical and operational changes on utilization, funding (GEM, QBP, P4R), and organizational performance.
- Expert knowledge of clinical documentation improvement principles and their impact on case-mix, funding, data quality, performance measurement, and organizational decision-making.
- Demonstrated expertise in enterprise data architecture, data engineering, data governance, data quality management, metadata management, information stewardship, and master data management.
- Excellent strategic thinking, analytical reasoning, problem-solving, facilitation, and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence decision-making at all levels of the organization.
- Proven ability to lead organizational change, manage competing priorities, and successfully deliver complex enterprise initiatives in a dynamic healthcare environment.
