Position Summary:
Reporting to the Cabinet Shop Manager, the Cabinet Finisher will be responsible for surface preparation, applying stains, paints and topcoats to a variety of woods and veneers, colour matching, and using/maintaining the spray booth.
This individual is knowledgeable in all aspects of finishing with an emphasis on quality and consistency. The Cabinet Finisher will be responsible for knowing and practicing safe working methods and possess a strong knowledge of shop practices, procedures, techniques, tools, equipment, quality control and safety equipment. Dedication to quality craftsmanship is essential in this role. This position will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and tidy work area and assisting in conducting regular maintenance of tools and machinery. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Job Duties:
- Applying stains, glazing, primer, tinted lacquer, and lacquers
- Sanding of materials between coats
- Touching up finished materials to ensure consistent tone and appearance
- Understanding proper product drying and curing times
- Maintaining sprayer, spray booth and all finishing equipment
- Changing exhaust fans and spray booth filters as required
- Storing finishing materials properly and safely
- Gathering specifications from samples, clients, and/or the design team
- Estimating and preparing materials required for production
- Repairing and refinishing damaged, incorrect, or previously finished pieces
- Operating and maintaining tools and equipment.
- Keeping a daily log of tasks.
- Contributing and participating in the effective use of the Quality Control System.
- Using proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times
- Performing other related duties, including minor duties of other trades where certification is not required and work remains within personal skill limitations
- Understanding and complying with all company policies and procedures
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area free from sawdust and debris between tasks and at the end of each day
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Advanced knowledge of spray finishing techniques.
- Knowledge of spray equipment and spray booth operation and maintenance
- Experience in wood staining, painting and finishing.
- Knowledge of the use of conversion varnish, lacquers, paints and glazes
- Basic knowledge of carpentry.
- Knowledge of safe operation of hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.
- First Aid and CPR certification is an asset
- Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner.

Work Conditions:
- Hours of work: 44 hours per week; Mon to Thurs 7:30am-5:00pm and Fri 7:30am-4:00pm. One 30-minute unpaid lunch break and two 15-minute breaks are provided per shift. Hours of work are subject to seasonal changes and variations caused by workload or other circumstances.
- Ability to lift and carry objects up to 100 lbs.
- Manual dexterity required to use power and hand tools.
- Frequently noisy working environment.
- Use of PPE, including safety glasses and steel toe boots is required.
- Exposure to hazards commonly associated with the construction industry
