JOB SUMMARY:
The Buyer is responsible for forecasting and procuring materials, supplies, and equipment necessary for the business. The role involves business negotiations and concessions with suppliers, researching potential item selections, and maintaining inventory levels. The position will work closely with various departments to forecast business needs and make purchase decisions based on demand. Additionally, it will ensure that all purchases meet quality standards and are cost-effective, contributing to the overall efficiency and profitability of the organization.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
ERP System and Purchase Orders

Being fluent with the company ERP system to efficiently create, issue, and manage purchase orders while monitoring existing data to ensure competitiveness in the market.

Swiftly complete purchase order requisitions and special-order item requests.

Oversee open purchase orders to guarantee timely deliveries and address any discrepancies.

Regularly check daily reports to identify and prevent potential stock outs, maintaining optimal inventory levels.
Supplier Management and Pricing

Use available tools to manage, validate, and negotiate supplier business concessions for cost efficiency.

Identify surplus or excess items and implement strategies to minimize their impact on inventory.

Track and manage supplier key performance indicators (KPIs), escalating and solving issues when necessary.

Develop and execute strategies with suppliers to enhance inventory turns and reduce overall costs.
Quality Assurance and Collaboration

Collaborate closely with the Quality Assurance team to resolve any quality-related issues.

Leverage data and information to identify and mitigate potential supply chain risks.

Actively participate in the continuous improvement of procurement processes and functions.

Work collaboratively with various departments to ensure smooth operations and effective communication.
Knowledge and Support

Continuously expand product and industry knowledge to make well-informed buying decisions.

Understand and anticipate seasonal demand trends to optimize purchasing strategies.

Provide support to team members as needed, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Perform other related duties, as assigned, that are in accordance with job responsibilities and/or necessary departmental or corporate objectives.
Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, applicable legislation, regulations, statutes, and departmental policies/procedures/practices and operational guidelines.

Prerequisites:

College Diploma or equivalent in a related discipline.

SCMP, CSCP or equivalent designation an asset.

3+ years of procurement experience or related job experience.

Experience using ERP/MRP systems.

Proficiency with MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word).
