Job description:
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Life Skills Coach to provide day-to-day support to a young adult male. The ideal candidate will foster independence, confidence and personal growth whil helping him to stay organized, manage responsibilities, and maintain a comfortable and functional home environment.
Duties
- Build a supportive, professional relationship with client and his family
- Develop and implement personalized activity plans that promote healthy living, skill development, and social engagement
- Provides support for client in his home, workplace, and in the community to encourage safety and maximize level of independence
- Assist with medication administration following prescribed protocols
- Identifies social, recreational, and educational services in the community that will meet the client’s needs
- Models healthy living and appropriate social behavior
- Supports the client by adapting activities to their abilities and goals
- Assists client in pursuing regular physical activity and healthy eating
- Monitors and reports on client’s success and well being
- Assists client with daily life skills (e.g., pet care, farm and household chores, cooking) and behavior management
- Assists client in attending appointments when needed
- Provides emotional support and feedback to client
- Works with client and family to establish goals for the client and create and implement an action plan to achieve these goals
- Maintains written and/or verbal reports of client’s progress, challenges and acheivements
Requirements
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with individuals, families, and team members
- Ability to administer medications safely following prescribed instructions
- Compassionate attitude with patience and adaptability to meet diverse needsRequirements

- Strong communication skills
- Must be comfortable around animals (dogs, cats, chickens)
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
- Reliable vehicle and Valid Driver’s License and insurance
- Experience or training in special education or caregiving is highly desirable
- Prior work with individuals with disabilities or in similar supportive roles is preferred
- Non-violent Crisis Intervention an asset
- Emergency First Aid an asset
- Mental Health First Aid an asset
Other
- Typical work hours fall between 8:30 am and 8:30 pm.
- Hours are flexible but priority will be given to someone who is available for occasional weekends and occassional evenings.
Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
