Position Summary
We are seeking a hands-on, results-driven Production Supervisor to lead operations in a fast-paced metal stamping environment. This role is responsible for overseeing daily production, driving efficiency, maintaining quality standards, and fostering a strong safety culture.
The ideal candidate brings leadership experience in manufacturing, with a strong floor presence and the ability to support both processes and people while meeting production goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily production activities to meet schedules, quality standards, and cost objectives
- Lead by example on the production floor, ensuring safe, efficient operations at all times
- Train, mentor, and evaluate employees, including press operators and die setup personnel
- Ensure proper onboarding and training of new hires in stamping operations
- Monitor and enforce safety protocols, maintaining an inspection-ready workplace
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues quickly to minimize downtime
- Collaborate with maintenance and support teams to maintain equipment and optimize performance
- Promote a positive working relationship between management and unionized workforce through fair and consistent leadership
- Track and analyze production metrics, implementing continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate production reports and communicate updates to management
- Address employee concerns and escalate appropriately to HR when needed
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience in metal stamping, tooling, or press operations strongly preferred
- Knowledge of progressive and transfer stamping presses and die setup is an asset
- Strong leadership and team development skills
- Effective communication and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles is an asset
- Post-secondary education in manufacturing, engineering, or related field is an asset but not required
Work Environment
- Industrial manufacturing setting with varying temperatures
- High noise levels (hearing protection required)
- Physically demanding role (ability to lift up to 50 lbs)
- Exposure to oil, dirt, and heavy machinery
- Required PPE: steel-toe boots, safety glasses, and other protective equipment
