Purpose: To oversee the bar & restaurant operations at Albion Rooms Ottawa and reflects the offering and the values of the Albion Rooms.
The Albion Rooms: An exceptional, local, day and evening destination bar and restaurant (which just happens to be in a hotel) that is relaxed, honest and affordable. The Albion Rooms showcases the very best seasonal produce with an expertly crafted drinks list. Accountabilities:
- To promote the food & beverage concepts at the hotel with passion and enthusiasm to all guests and to the service team
- Through effective leadership to encourage the team to deliver an inspirational experience for every guest from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave
- To speak to every guest and make sure they have the experience they want, not the experience we’ve decided they’re going to have
- To encourage the team to ask questions, and share your knowledge to guide guests through the choices they can make
- To manage the team in an inspirational manner
- To bring to life the signature style of the restaurant and bar
- To ensure service and product delivery meets the highest quality expectations
- To ensure the service teams perform to the standards defined and continuously
- To aim to improve service standards and operating procedures
- To be aware of emerging bar and restaurant trends and how they may impact the hotel and to play an active role in the Ottawa bar/restaurant scene to promote Albion Rooms
- To have a sound working understanding of all costs and charges relating to bar and restaurant operations
- Directly responsible for the whole Beverage offer, pricing and costing
- To have input into the PR and Marketing opportunities available for Albion Rooms
- To lead and inspire the service teams through training, coaching and mentoring
- To offer educational support to the team
- To oversee the development and the training of the whole service teams
- To be able to work in Project mode with the heads of departments of the whole entity.
Requirements:
- Minimum of five years’ experience in a food & beverage operation of a similar standard and at least three years’ experience in a managerial role
- Excellent food and wine knowledge and experience working with cocktails, spirits and beers
- Understanding of current trends in food & drinks
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays
- Ability to engage with employees and guests in a variety of situations
- Skilled multi-tasker
- Lead by example
- Experience working with PR agencies and use of social media
- Competent in Microsoft Office, in particular using Excel spreadsheets
- Fluent in English, French would be a plus
