Instrumentation Journeyman Technician – Oilfield (Edmonton, AB)
Crossroads is hiring an experienced Instrumentation Journeyman Technician to support our growing operations throughout Alberta. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys troubleshooting complex instrumentation systems, working directly with customers, and delivering safe, high-quality work across upstream and midstream oil & gas facilities.

What You'll Do
- Execute instrumentation installations across wellsites, compressor stations, batteries, facilities, and other oilfield infrastructure
- Install and maintain instrumentation tubing, process instrumentation, transmitters, control valves, and related field devices
- Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, repairs, calibrations, commissioning, and startup support on upstream and midstream instrumentation systems
- Troubleshoot and repair common oilfield process equipment including gas and refrigeration compressors, separator packages, dehydrators, and line heaters
- Program, troubleshoot, and modify PLCs, RTUs, HMIs, SCADA, and communication systems
- Troubleshoot analog, digital, Modbus, and wireless communication devices and networks
- Estimate instrumentation construction and maintenance projects
- Develop and maintain preventative maintenance programs for instrumentation systems
- Coordinate daily site activities with customers to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget
- Communicate directly with customers on project progress, technical solutions, and equipment reliability
- Complete QA/QC documentation and job reporting while ensuring compliance with safety standards
- Work closely with operations to improve equipment performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
What You Bring
- Journeyman Instrumentation Technician certification
- 5+ years of upstream oil & gas instrumentation experience
- Strong experience with instrumentation installation, tubing, hydro testing, calibration, commissioning, and startup
- Experience maintaining and repairing instrumentation control valves and process instrumentation
- Experience working with:
- Gas compressors
- Refrigeration compressors
- Separator packages
- Dehydrators
- Line heaters
- Experience troubleshooting instrumentation systems in live operating facilities
- Ability to locate and navigate to field locations using UWI and LSD coordinates throughout Western Canada
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, BlueBeam, and other common software platforms
- Valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract
- Must be a Canadian Citizen currently residing in the Edmonton area or willing to relocate within three months
- Willingness to travel as required
Nice to Have
- Instrumentation estimating experience
- Electrical experience or dual E&I background
- Experience programming and troubleshooting PLCs, RTUs, HMIs, SCADA, and communication systems
- Experience troubleshooting industrial communication protocols including Modbus and ROC Protocol
- Strong local network within the oil & gas and industrial trades
Compensation & Perks
- $42–$48/hour (negotiable for the right candidate)
