Title: Estimator
Location: Greater Toronto Area
Company: Primeline
Role Overview
The Estimator supports project acquisition and delivery for Primeline by preparing accurate cost estimates across both fabrication and field installation of windows, doors, and aluminum systems. You review architectural drawings, specifications, and scope documents to work out material, labour, and equipment requirements for manufacturing and installation, making sure bids stay competitive without giving up margin. You work closely with engineering, production, and project management teams to confirm your estimates reflect real manufacturing capability and actual installation methods, not just assumptions on paper. Good work in this role looks like bids that go out on time, cost breakdowns operations can actually use, and a shrinking gap between what gets quoted and what gets built. Over time, your pricing gets sharper as you fold in real production data, supplier costs, and field productivity from completed jobs.
What We Offer
- Salary: $60,000 to $90,000 (commensurate with experience)
- Stable, long-term role with a growing manufacturer-contractor
- Benefits from Day 1
- Exposure to both the fabrication and field sides of the window and door business
- Room to grow into senior estimating, project coordination, or operations roles
- Work alongside the engineering and production teams who build what you price
- On-site role based in the Greater Toronto Area
- A culture focused on safety, accountability, teamwork, and practical solutions
What You Bring to the Table
Technical Skills
- 3 to 5 years of estimating experience in windows, doors, aluminum systems, curtain wall, or a related building envelope trade
- Ability to price both fabrication and field installation scopes, covering material take-offs, production labour, and site installation costs
- Comfortable reading architectural drawings, shop drawings, and specifications to pull accurate quantities
- Proficiency with estimating software, Excel, and digital take-off tools
- Working knowledge of aluminum glazing systems, hardware, sealants, and related building envelope components
Attributes
You catch scope gaps, pricing risks, and constructability issues before they become problems on site- You can juggle multiple bids and deadlines without losing track of the details
- You communicate clearly with engineering, production, project managers, and suppliers
- You have a sharp eye for numbers and don't let small errors slide
- You stay focused on winning work that's actually profitable, not just winning work
