Job Summary
KMSC Surface Rights in Grande Prairie is growing and we are seeking a dynamic and professional Land Agent to join our team.
Responsibilities
- Represent and support landowners in their dealings with industry representatives and other stakeholders
- Assist with new land acquisitions
- Review and negotiate proposed surface leases, rights of way, easements, access agreements, and related land use agreements
- Assist with negotiations regarding annual compensation and rental reviews for surface locations
- Support landowners with claims for damages resulting from commercial developments, including releases, flooding, noxious weeds, property damage, and loss of use
- Assist with environmental compliance, reclamation, regulatory, and other landowner concerns
- Communicate with landowners, industry representatives, legal counsel, government agencies, and regulatory bodies
- Gather and review relevant land, ownership, development, and compensation information
- Maintain organized and accurate file records, correspondence, and supporting documentation
- Manage multiple files, priorities, meetings, and deadlines
- Travel to meet with landowners or attend site visits, negotiations, hearings, or other proceedings as required
What You Bring to the Team
- A minimum of two years of experience as a Land Agent or in a related surface rights or land services role
- A current valid Alberta Land Agent Licence is preferred
- Experience working with surface leases, rights of way, well sites, access roads, utility agreements, or other commercial land use matters
- Knowledge of surface rights, landowner compensation, regulatory processes, and industry practices
- Experience negotiating with industry representatives and other stakeholders
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- The ability to explain complex information clearly and professionally to landowners
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and time management skills
- The ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a legal and professional team
- Proficiency in Microsoft, Abadata, etc.
- A valid driver’s licence and the ability to travel when required
