The Role
Are you a recent graduate with a passion for turning conceptual designs into tangible, physical structures? We are looking for an energetic, detail-oriented Junior Draftsperson / CAD Technician to join our team.
In this role, you will use AutoCAD to independently transform Design Intent Drawings from Designers & Architects into precise technical fabrication drawings for architectural signage applications, including wayfinding, identity signage, and donor recognition. As an industry experienced professional you are highly organized, an excellent problem solver and fully capable of managing your own workload with minimum supervision in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
As a Junior Draftsperson, you will handle the technical progression of a project from fabrication design through to shop floor and final installation.
- Create Fabrication Drawings: Use AutoCAD to create comprehensive 2D fabrication drawings (with basic 3D as required on select projects) from Design Intent, Client Sketches incorporating information from Site Surveys and Architectural Drawings for client approval, permit applications, and structural engineer sign-offs.
- Design Presentations: Utilise CorelDRAW and Adobe Illustrator to create colour presentations and graphics layouts to meet client requirements.
- Generate Production Files: Following drawing approval, extract parts and generate accurate cut files for CNC machining and fabrication accounting for material properties and tolerances.
- Collaborate with Production: Work dynamically with production to trouble shoot fabrication challenges and update drawings to reflect changes made ensuring accurate As-built documentation.
- Manage Workload: Prioritize your own daily tasks under minimal supervision to successfully hit project deadlines.
- Maintain Digital Files: Organize and maintain the company’s drawing database, ensuring file naming and revision controls are followed.
Qualifications & Skills
We welcome applications from motivated new grads and juniors who meet the
following criteria:
- Education: Graduate of a Drafting, Architectural Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related program.
- Software Proficiency: Must be proficient in the current version of AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with CorelDRAW, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Acrobat Professional (must be willing to learn more on the job).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Technical Aptitude: Ability to read architectural drawings and floor plans.
- Solid foundation of geometry, numeracy, standard drafting principles, symbols, and nomenclature.
- Basic baseline knowledge of structural concepts, building codes, material properties, and electrical systems.
- Basic familiarity with standard manufacturing materials (aluminum, stainless steel, acrylic, glass, LEDs, vinyl) is preferred
- Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving capabilities, clear communication skills, and a strong collaborative mindset to work effectively within a team environment.
- Asset: Any prior exposure or experience in the sign industry is a definite asset.
Compensation:
- Starting Salary: $47,000 to $52,000 Annually Commensurate with Experience
- Overtime Policy: Typical hours are 40 hours a week. Extra hours may be required to meet critical project deadlines, compensation or Time Off in Lieu (TOIL) will be provided at the discretion of management.
