About the Role
As the first point of contact for visitors, adopters, foster families, volunteers, and donors, you will play a key role in creating a welcoming and professional experience while supporting the day-to-day operations of our shelters.
What You'll Do
● Deliver exceptional customer service in person, over the phone, and by email.
● Assist with animal adoptions, foster care inquiries, and community programs.
● Process public animal intakes in Pet Point at the front desk, donations, licences, and other
shelter services.
● Handle payments and maintain accurate financial and administrative records.
● Support volunteers, adopters, foster families, and community partners.
● Maintain a welcoming, organised, and professional reception area.
● Respond to customer concerns with empathy, professionalism, and sound judgement.
● Collaborate with shelter staff to support daily operations and special events.
What You'll Bring
● Previous customer service, reception, or administrative experience.
● Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
● Strong organisational, multitasking, and time management abilities.
● Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
● A compassionate, patient, and professional approach when working with the public.
● Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Point-of-Sale systems, and general office software.
● Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
● Experience in animal welfare, veterinary medicine, or a shelter environment is considered an asset.
