Head Baker — What A Bagel, Barrie (New Location Opening August 2026)
What A Bagel is opening a brand-new location at 323 Mapleview Drive West, Barrie, and we're looking for a Head Baker to lead our baking operation from day one. This is a vital, hands on leadership role with real growth potential within the business as we expand.
About the Role
As Head Baker, you'll oversee all baking operations at our new Barrie location — from early morning production through the day's service — ensuring every bagel and baked good meets What A Bagel's quality and consistency standards. You'll lead by example on the bench and lead the team through clear communication, setting the tone for a high-performing bakery operation.
Responsibilities
- Manage early morning bake schedules to ensure fresh product is ready for opening
- Apply proper baking techniques across our full bagel and bakery lineup
- Maintain consistent quality and product standards throughout the day
- Train, coach, and direct bakery staff to keep production running smoothly
- Communicate effectively with team members and management to solve problems quickly
- Uphold food safety and cleanliness standards in the bakery area
Requirements
- Proven baking experience, ideally in a high-volume or commercial bakery setting
- Comfortable with early morning start times
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and quality-driven
- Willingness to complete training at an existing What A Bagel location prior to the Barrie opening
