Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Dispatch Planner to join our Operations team. This role involves planning, assigning, and monitoring driver routes and loads to ensure optimal utilization of fleet resources and timely service delivery across cross-border lanes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and dispatch drivers for cross-border loads (Canada/USA) ensuring compliance with HOS regulations.
- Assign loads based on driver availability, hours of service, equipment type, and delivery requirements.
- Monitor trip progress and communicate proactively with drivers regarding delays, route changes, or issues.
- Coordinate with customers, brokers, and warehouse contacts to schedule pickups and deliveries.
- Track and manage load status using dispatch software (Fleet Manager by TransPlus).
- Ensure all documentation, including customs paperwork, is reviewed and transmitted on time.
- Support drivers with real-time guidance on routing, border crossing, and compliance matters.
- Maintain strong communication with other departments including Safety, Compliance, and Maintenance.
- Update and maintain accurate dispatch records and trip details.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in dispatch or planning within a transportation environment.
- Knowledge of cross-border freight operations, customs clearance, and load planning.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Experience with dispatch software; knowledge of Fleet Manager (TransPlus) is an asset.
- Strong problem-solving and multitasking skills in a time-sensitive environment.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends if required.
