Position Summary:
We’re seeking an experienced Sous Chef to support the Chef de Cuisine and Executive Chef in leading daily kitchen operations. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and hands-on leader with a solid foundation in Italian or fine dining cuisine. We value a kitchen culture built on teamwork, professionalism, and passion for great food.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Chef de Cuisine in overseeing all kitchen operations, including prep, service, and execution
- Supervise, coach, and develop kitchen staff to ensure consistency, efficiency, and adherence to culinary standards
- Assist in managing inventory, ordering, and cost control to minimize waste and maintain target food costs
- Ensure all food is prepared, stored, and handled in compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards
- Maintain a clean, organized kitchen, enforcing proper food handling procedures (FIFO, labeling, storage temperatures)
- Monitor quality and presentation of all dishes leaving the kitchen during service
- Step in to lead service and support stations as needed, ensuring smooth and timely execution
- Uphold a positive, professional kitchen culture and lead by example under pressure
What We’re Looking For:
- 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory kitchen role within a full-service or fine dining restaurant
- Proven hands-on cooking ability with strong technical skills and understanding of kitchen operations
- Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to train, motivate, and manage a team
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to perform under pressure
- Experience with inventory management, ordering, and cost control is an asset
- Knowledge of Italian cuisine and modern cooking techniques preferred
- Valid Food Handler Certification required
