Recognized for its expertise in energy and complex electrical infrastructure, our electrical engineering team plays a key role in the development, rehabilitation, and optimization of hydroelectric power plants across Canada. In the context of the energy transition and the modernization of existing assets, our projects span the full lifecycle of facilities, from preliminary studies to commissioning.
To support our continued growth, we are looking for a Senior Hydropower Engineer who will act as a technical lead on large-scale hydroelectric plant rehabilitation projects. Supported by experienced multidisciplinary teams, you will play a decisive role in the planning, coordination, and execution of engineering activities.
In this role, you will ensure technical consistency across projects, the quality of deliverables, and the integration of various disciplines, while maintaining alignment between client requirements and project objectives.

- Define scope, deliverables, effort, and schedules in collaboration with project teams
- Lead multidisciplinary teams across the full lifecycle of hydroelectric plant rehabilitation projects
- Provide technical leadership in one or more key areas: turbine-generator units (TGU), electrical equipment/auxiliary services, control and protection
- Mentor discipline leads and ensure the quality of deliverables
- Ensure cross-disciplinary coordination
- Plan and supervise site activities, including equipment installation and commissioning
- Monitor budgets, schedules, and technical commitments
- Participate in pre-project studies, feasibility analyses, and assessment of existing assets
- Collaborate closely with manufacturers, suppliers, and contractors for the integration of major equipment

Summary of certifications and job requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
- Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience, including significant experience in hydropower
- Proven experience in technical leadership or coordination of complex multidisciplinary projects
- Experience in hydroelectric generation projects including one or more of the following:
- Hydroelectric power plants
- Dams and related structures
- Turbine-generator units
- Penstocks and spillways
- Substations, grid connections, and associated electrical auxiliary systems
- Experience in rehabilitation, modernization, and life extension of existing facilities
- Strong understanding of the full engineering lifecycle of rehabilitation projects
- Strong ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams in complex environments
- Advanced English skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients in English-speaking Canadian provinces and internationally; you may need to use English occasionally or daily, depending on current projects
- Advanced French skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients in Québec
