About the Role
Karl Maverick Group (KMG) is a Winnipeg-based real estate investment company. We acquire, renovate, and improve residential properties and we do it all in-house, with our own team and trades rather than subbing the work out. Because of that, the projects don't stop: there's a steady pipeline of renovations to run, year-round.
We're hiring a hands-on Renovation Project Manager to take our renovation projects from start to finish - planning the work, running the crew and trades, pricing the scope, and getting on the tools when the job calls for it.
We're looking for a true all-around renovation specialist: someone whose core skill is carpentry, strong in both framing and finish - who also understands every system that goes into a home, and who can keep a project on schedule and on budget. You'll work alongside our existing lead and report directly to ownership. The work is steady, the standards are high, and the right person will have real room to grow as the company grows.
What You'll Do
- Run renovation projects on site from start to finish - plan, schedule, sequence, and keep the work moving
- Lead and coordinate our in-house crew and trades (electrical, plumbing, painting, roofing)
- Get on the tools yourself: framing through finish carpentry, depending on the day
- Scope renovation work and produce accurate material and labour estimates
- Keep projects on budget, every dollar and every day matters in this business
- Order and compare material pricing, manage on-site inventory, and minimize waste
- Read plans and translate scope into a clear daily plan for the crew
- Hold the line on quality, safety, and a clean job site
- Walk prospective properties when needed and provide renovation cost estimates to support buying decisions
- Communicate progress, problems, and timelines directly and honestly to ownership
What We're Looking For
Must-haves:
- Journeyman carpenter (preferred) genuinely strong in both framing and finish
- True all-around renovation knowledge: you understand how a whole home goes together, not just one trade
- Experience leading or coordinating a crew on residential renovation projects
- Ability to read plans, scope work, and estimate materials and labour accurately
- Strong sense of budget and timeline - you treat the company's money and schedule like your own
- Self-directed and organized: able to run a job site without being micromanaged
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Own hand tools
Assets (not required):
- Experience with renovation or investment/flip-style projects on tight timelines
- Experience estimating renovation costs on prospective property purchases
- Comfort with project tracking and basic digital tools
What We Offer
- Competitive hourly pay ($22–$32/hr based on experience)
- Steady, year-round work
- A team that treats its people right and takes pride in the craft
- Real room to grow as the company grows
- A direct line to ownership - your judgment and your work matter here
