We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Associate to join our Finance team. This role is responsible for supporting the company's day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, payroll processing, bank reconciliations, general bookkeeping, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate has strong experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO), excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Process supplier invoices and ensure timely, accurate payments.
- Verify invoices against purchase orders and receiving documents.
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve invoice discrepancies.
- Process bi-weekly payroll and maintain accurate payroll records.
- Calculate payroll adjustments, including overtime, vacation, and statutory holiday pay.
- Record financial transactions, prepare journal entries, and maintain the general ledger.
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare financial reports and management spreadsheets.
- Assist with government remittances, including GST/HST, payroll deductions, and WSIB.
- Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
- Support budgeting, cash flow reporting, and continuous process improvements.
- Assist with audits and other accounting projects as required.
- Provide administrative support to the Finance department.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, including at least 2 years using QuickBooks Online (QBO).
- Experience processing Canadian payroll is considered a strong asset.
- Strong understanding of accounts payable, payroll, and general accounting principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office 365.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or distribution environment.
- Knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and employment standards.
- Experience with inventory accounting and purchase order processes.
- Experience assisting with month-end and year-end financial close.
