Job Overview
We are seeking a responsible and enthusiastic dog walker to join Fort Dog Fit! This role involves providing reliable and caring dog walking services to clients, ensuring pets are exercised, safe, and happy. The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for animals and excellent customer service skills to build positive relationships with pet owners.
Our average hours occur between 9am and 3pm, so having flexible availability within these times is ideal. We occasionally do have services that occur in the evenings and so we will be looking to hire someone that can work those now and again.
Duties
- Take dogs on scheduled walks in various neighbourhoods or designated areas
- Ensure the safety and well-being of each dog during walks
- Follow specific instructions provided by pet owners regarding pet care and behaviour
- Communicate with clients about their pets’ activities and any concerns or observations through our app (a cell phone with data plan is a must!)
- Collect and dispose of pet waste responsibly
Skills and Requirements
- Be 18 years of age or older (for our insurance to cover you)
- Have a clean criminal record
- Be able to effectively communicate with pet owners and address their needs
- Must have a driver's license and reliable vehicle
- Skills with photography is a bonus
- Compassionate and patient attitude toward animals of all temperaments
- Ability to handle multiple dogs safely and confidently
- Be punctual and passionate about animals
- Have the physical stamina to walk dogs for extended periods and in various weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of dog behaviour and body language is a plus
- Have long term availability (12+ months)
Compensation
Compensation is based on commission and is therefore based on your availability to work. The more you work, the more you get paid! Average gross pay (meaning taxes have NOT been deducted) of our walkers is around $400-600/week. $700+ is achievable with open full time availability/willingness to work. Over time, there are opportunities for commission increases and promotion within the company. Not to mention the ability to earn tips!
