POSITION SUMMARY
In this position, you are a member of the conversion/changeover crew. Duties required in this position are changing the facility from a hockey arena to a concert, banquet, basketball setting, or any other unique sports and events (and back to hockey setting). Any event-orientated preparation and setup required for shows or sporting events are to run safely and efficiently as possible, following detailed instructions from the supervisors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ice Rink - Installation & removal of fiber-glass flooring deck, hockey glass, stanchions, glass clips, hockey mesh, rink boards, electrical equipment.
- Basketball - Installation & removal of basketball court, nets, chairs, staging equipment, electrical cables.
- Concerts - Building & dismantling concert stage with staging equipment (stage legs, stage decks, stair cases), barricades and barriers, chair set-ups, moving house curtains, removing additional rink boards, pipe and drape needs, hospitality and guest rooms, bike racks.
- PPE Required - CSA Approved safety shoes/boots (steel toe). CSA approved helmet, gloves.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- General labourer and construction experience are an asset.
- Ability to work well in a team environment, as well as independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to lift up to and over 75 pounds.
- Ability to work safely with power tools.
- Ability to work a varied schedule including evenings, overnights, and weekends as each event is unique and may vary in start time.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk for long periods of time, stand, lift, and bend for periods of time. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. This work requires utilizing tools and equipment that could cause physical injury if not handled and operated following safety practices and procedures. Required to follow WHMIS and provincial Health and Safety regulations.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Due to the nature of our business, candidates will need to be able to work flexible hours; primarily overnights, weekends and occasional holidays.
