Our client, a well-established company located in Ottawa's East End, is currently seeking a skilled and dependable Sheet Metal Worker to join their team on a full-time, direct-hire basis. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Fabricate custom piping, ductwork, and conduits for heating, ventilation, and HVAC systems according to project specifications
- Rotate through various fabrication, installation, and assembly tasks to support production and project requirements
- Read, interpret, and work from mechanical HVAC drawings, blueprints, and specifications
- Assist with the installation, modification, and repair of HVAC components and systems
- Provide direction, training, and supervision to apprentices, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards
- Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards
- Collaborate with team members, project managers, and other trades to meet project timelines
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while following all health and safety procedures
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment safely and efficiently
Required skills and qualifications:
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a sheet metal or related trade position
- Valid 308A Sheet Metal Worker (Journeyperson/Journeywoman) certification required
- Strong ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, drawings, plans, and project specifications
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations and best practices
Assets:
- Reliable transportation required; own vehicle preferred (location is accessible by public transit)
- Previous experience operating a brake press and/or shear machine is required
- Bilingual (English/French) communication skills are considered a strong asset
