About the job:
Kent is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to support the Kearl Project in Fort McKay, Alberta. The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for cost control, contract administration, and commercial reporting to ensure that project financial performance remains aligned with contractual obligations and project budgets.

Cost Management & Control

Prepare and manage cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts.

Track project expenditures and identify cost variances.

Support change management processes including evaluation and pricing of change orders.
Contract Administration
-
Administer contracts, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions.

Review contractor submissions including progress claims and variations.
-
Support dispute resolution and commercial negotiations as required.
Measurement & Valuation
-
Perform quantity take-offs and validate contractor measurements.
-
Assess completed work for progress payments.
-
Maintain accurate records of quantities and valuations.
Reporting
-
Prepare weekly and monthly cost reports, forecasts, and financial summaries.

Provide commercial insights to project leadership.
-
Support audits and financial reviews.
Interface & Coordination
-
Work closely with Project Controls, Construction, and Procurement teams.

Interface with client representatives and contractors on commercial matters.
In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
Knowledge / Qualification / Training / Certification:

Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline.

7+ years of experience in quantity surveying on large-scale industrial or oil & gas projects.

Strong understanding of contracts, cost control, and commercial management.

Proficiency in cost management systems and MS Excel.

Experience with lump sum contracts.
Communication:

Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

Ability to present commercial data clearly to leadership.
