About the Position
The Primary Years Educator position serves a pivotal role in our organization’s growth plans, as we are expanding our educational programs for children from Kindergarten to Grade 7.
In the position of Educator, you are expected to perform the following responsibilities:
- Create a welcoming, safe, and orderly environment for students and parents
- Prepare and deliver lessons in line with program objectives in one-on-one and/or group settings
- Collaborate with our team to design and enhance programs and lesson plans
- Administer student assessments to identify student strengths and areas for improvement
- Communicate student progress and recommendations with parents and our team, in person and/or in writing
- Track, record, and file student data and media
- Prepare and maintain teaching spaces in accordance with learning objectives and lesson plans
- Perform relevant duties as assigned
- Able to work on Saturdays and/or Sundays and after-school hours
Experience
To succeed in this role, you are expected to have the following:
- At least 1 year of experience teaching and preparing lessons in afterschool enrichment centres, licensed childcare facilities, schools, or equivalent
- Knowledge of child development principles and primary years curriculum frameworks
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft, Google, and/or other software and systems
- Successful criminal record and vulnerable sector check
- Exceptional professionalism and work ethic
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team
You will be an even better fit if you have one or more of the following:
- A degree or diploma in Humanities, Social Sciences or equivalent
- A relevant degree or certificate in Primary Education or equivalent
- CPR and First Aid certification
