On-Call Substitute Early Childhood Educator

The Boys and Girls Club of Yarmouth is seeking reliable and flexible individuals to join our team as substitute educators.
This is a casual, on-call position intended to provide coverage for staff absences, vacation time, and other scheduling needs. While this role does not offer regular or guaranteed hours, it may be an excellent fit for individuals looking for flexible, casual work and the ability to maintain some control over their availability.
Please note:
- This position is on-call only.
- There are no guaranteed hours.
- Work opportunities will vary based on operational needs and staff absences.
- Applicants must be available to accept shifts on short notice when possible.
Substitutes may work with children ranging in age from infants to 5 years old and will support educators in providing a safe, engaging, and nurturing learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage with children in a positive and professional manner.
- Support the implementation of daily routines and activities.
- Maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all children.
- Follow licensing regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Work collaboratively with educators and other team members as required.
Qualifications
- Experience working with young children is considered an asset.
- Early Childhood Education training or certification is considered an asset.
- Ability to work with children ranging from infants to 4 years of age.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt to different classrooms and teams.
Required Documentation
Successful applicants must provide:
- A current Child Abuse Registry check.
- A current Vulnerable Sector Check.
- A valid First Aid Certificate.
