Key Account Manager, Western Canada
Reporting to the VP of Sales, the Key Account Manager will own and grow GoodLeaf's retail presence across Western Canada. The business is established in this region with strong retailer relationships in place. The focus is on protecting and deepening those partnerships while actively driving new listings, expanding distribution, and bringing innovation to market. This is a high-visibility commercial role with direct accountability for regional revenue performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Retail Account Management
- Own head-office relationships with Pattison Food Group, Save On Foods, Fed Co-op, Calgary Co-op, etc.
- Lead joint business planning, promotional programming, and annual negotiations that drive mutual growth and category leadership.
- Actively sell in new listings and innovation launches across the region.
- Monitor account performance, identify gaps early, and move quickly to course-correct at store level.
- Partner with national retail teams where banner relationships have both regional and national dimensions.
Broker Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for GoodLeaf's retail broker in Western Canada.
- Set clear objectives, hold the broker accountable to performance targets, and ensure consistent in-store execution across the region.
Commercial Execution
- Build and execute account plans aligned with GoodLeaf's commercial strategy and revenue targets.
- Manage trade investment with discipline and ensure promotional spend delivers measurable ROI.
- Use data and insights to optimize assortment, pricing, and promotional activity.
- Maintain tight forecasting discipline to support operations planning.
Foodservice
- Maintain low-touch oversight of existing foodservice broker relationships in the region. This is not a primary focus of the role.
Collaboration
- Work closely with Marketing, Operations, and Finance to ensure flawless execution and internal alignment.
- Contribute to a high-performance sales culture through accountability and shared learning.
Other:
- Follows and complies with all GoodLeaf Farms, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Provincial and Company Health and Safety standards and Company Safe Quality Foods standards and guidelines.
- Travel across borders: 20% - to meet with customers as needed, be at GoodLeaf facilities for periodic team meetings.
