We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Financial Controller to join our team on a 13-month maternity leave contract. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring timely financial reporting, and supporting overall financial integrity across the organization.
This position is well-suited for a strong accounting professional with dealership experience and full-cycle accounting expertise who enjoys a hands-on and leadership-support role.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and maintain accurate financial records and reporting
- Perform bank and account reconciliations
- Manage full-cycle accounting processes
- Prepare monthly and year-end financial statements
- Support month-end close activities and reporting deadlines
- Prepare GST/PST filings and ensure tax compliance support
- Approve payments and oversee payment processing controls
- Support internal and external audits, including preparation of working papers and documentation
- Review and process deals, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Maintain and reconcile financial schedules and supporting reports
- Ensure accuracy and compliance across all accounting functions
- Act as the primary point of contact for accounting and financial-related matters
- Support employees and management in resolving day-to-day operational and reporting issues
- Provide guidance and support to teams across Accounting, Sales, Parts, and Service departments
- Support management in addressing employee concerns and workplace issues, escalating and resolving matters as appropriate
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA designation required
- Strong experience in full-cycle accounting and financial statement preparation
- Dealership accounting experience considered an asset
- Proficiency with accounting software (PBS preferred)
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards
- Experience with audits and financial reporting requirements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Leadership and team support experience
- High attention to detail and accuracy
