Construction Surveyor
Location: Moncton
Job Type: Full-time, seasonal with potential for year‑round work
About the role
We are looking for a hands‑on Construction Surveyor who is also a reliable jack‑of‑all‑trades on-site. You’ll handle basic layout and survey tasks, then jump in with the crew to help with whatever is needed to keep civil and municipal jobs moving.
Key responsibilities
- Perform construction layout for curb, sidewalk, pipe, and roadwork (stakes, offsets, grades, and reference points).
- Set up and operate laser levels, total station or GPS to establish line, grade, elevations and control points.
- Read and interpret drawings, cut/fill sheets, and stakes to support the foreman and equipment operators.
- Record and communicate measurements clearly so work stays on line, grade, to spec and on schedule.
- Help with general site tasks: pulling string lines, checking slopes, measuring, marking, and basic quality checks.
- Assist with basic tool and survey gear maintenance and organization (charging batteries, cleaning, storing equipment properly).
- Work safely around traffic, trenches, utilities, and heavy equipment, following company and WorkSafeNB safety procedures.
Skills and qualifications
- Experience in construction layout or surveying on civil/municipal or sitework projects (entry to intermediate level).
- Comfortable using levels, lasers, tapes, and basic survey gear; exposure to total station or GPS required.
- Able to read plans and grades and do simple math for slopes, offsets, and elevations.
- “Jack‑of‑all‑trades” attitude – willing to help wherever needed, from layout to assisting operators with machine control
- Strong attention to detail, good communication, and able to work outdoors in all weather.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Safety tickets (WHMIS, First Aid, etc.) are an asset.
What we offer
- Competitive hourly wages based on experience, with overtime opportunities in peak season.
- Variety of work on municipal, subdivision, and general civil projects—no two days are the same.
- Opportunity to grow survey skills and move into a dedicated construction surveyor or foreman role.
- Safety‑focused, team‑oriented work environment.
Pay: $26.00-$30.00 per hour
Benefits:
- Company car
- Extended health care
- On-site parking
