Job Summary
The ITAD Operations Technician supports the day-to-day production activities of the facility, including receiving, sorting and identifying IT hardware, recording asset details and attributes in our systems, and learning technical processes such as device testing, inspection and data sanitization. This is a fast-paced production environment with a collaborative, friendly team and modern warehouse, office and employee spaces. The position is based at our newly renovated Etobicoke facility, conveniently located near Pearson Airport and major highways.
Responsibilities
- Sorting and Separating IT Hardware materials based upon provided guidelines.
- Physically Identifying and cataloguing various IT hardware such as Laptops/Desktops, Servers, Networking Devices etc.
- Separate and categorize IT devices and materials for Recycling – record details and weights into 3stepIT systems
- Systematic receipt of assets into the ERP system. Labelling assets and carefully relocating assets to correct processing areas.
- Recording detailed information about IT hardware devices, physical inspection and recording attributes such as condition and completeness.
- Capturing relevant data for IT hardware configuration and internals into 3stepIT systems and performing basic testing and quality checks.
- Fulfilling orders from stock – Preparing shipments and packaging to ensure safe transportation to our customers.
- Inventory counts and general warehouse tasks as assigned.
- Operate Forklift / Reach truck.
- Assist in assuring a safe working environment.
- Adhere to standard operating procedure and department operating procedure.
- Practice good housekeeping of work area and equipment used in the fulfilment process.
- Attend, participate, & successfully complete all training sessions and instruction.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Become proficient in our IMS systems.
- Participate in daily cleanup and facility maintenance tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications & Competencies
- Strong communication, both written and spoken
- Good sound knowledge of warehousing functions.
- High attention to detail.
Technical Competencies
- Competence in standard IT Applications such as Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint Adobe etc.
- Proficient in learning new software applications such as Blancco data erasure software.
- Operation of standard warehouse tools and equipment:
- Tape Guns, Box Cutters, Pallet Wrapping Machine, Pallet Scales, pallet strapping tools
- Forklift (certification required), Reach Truck, pallet jacks
- Operating dock-doors, electronic dock plates, dock levelers etc.
- Operation of basic power hand tools such as drills, heat guns, etc.
General Competencies
- Punctual, Reliable and Dependable.
- Strong attention to detail while working at a fast pace.
- Continuous improvement - have a “can do” / “how can we?” attitude.
- Be aware that at times it may be necessary to work outside the usual hours of operation to service customers in various geographies and meet SLAs.

Required Experience
- General warehouse duties
- Reporting missing items, late returns, and damages
- Punctuality, flexibility, and positivity is essential.
- Able to prioritise workload.
- Basic numeracy and literacy
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1 – 5 Years Job-related Experience
- Previous experience in order filling/processing and storage
- Previous Experience working in ITAD services and/or handing IT hardware
Physical Requirements
- Stand for extended periods of time (in some cases up to 100%), although some limited tasks would require sitting
- Handling valuable computer components
- Lift, bend and move at waist level, above the shoulders and below the knees; up to 10Ibs continually and occasionally up to 75lbs
- Push and pull frequently up to 25Ibs. Frequently is defined as up to 66% of time in a regular shift
- Reach above shoulder level up to 66% of time in a regular shift
- Repetitive hand movements (both hands) include packing orders and inputting data into NAV through a handheld device or keyboard
- Continually is defined as 67-100% of time in a regular shift and occasionally is defined as up to 33% of time in a regular shift
