Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Taper to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for applying finishing touches to surfaces, ensuring smooth and seamless transitions between materials, and contributing to the overall quality of our projects. This role offers an opportunity to work on diverse construction sites, utilizing a range of skills in painting, carpentry, and finishing work. Candidates with handyman experience and the ability to read blueprints will thrive in this position.
Duties
- Apply joint compound or plaster to walls and ceilings to create smooth surfaces
- Tape joints between drywall panels for a seamless finish
- Caulk gaps and seams to ensure airtight and watertight finishes
- Prepare surfaces by sanding, cleaning, and priming prior to taping or painting
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to accurately execute finishing tasks
- Assist with other construction-related tasks such as minor carpentry or repair work as needed
- Maintain a clean work environment and adhere to safety protocols throughout all phases of work
- Collaborate with project managers and other tradespeople to meet project specifications and deadlines
Skills
- Proven experience in construction painting, taping, or finishing work
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, including drywall installation, caulking, and surface preparation
- Carpentry skills are a plus for handling minor repairs or adjustments
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings accurately
- Handyman experience is highly desirable for versatile task execution
- Excellent attention to detail with a focus on quality workmanship
- Good physical stamina and dexterity for working on ladders, scaffolding, or elevated surfaces
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment
