Essential Duties & Responsibilities (NOC 44100 Aligned):
- Home Child Care Provider: Provide daily care for a 13-month-old infant in a private household. Provide a safe, nurturing developmentally appropriate environment while following the child's individualized care plan.
- Infant Gastrointestinal Care: Provide dedicated daily infant care tailored to a child diagnosed with Hirschsprung’s Disease. Assist parents with therapeutic rectal irrigations.
- Receive training from the parents and health care providers to safely assist with therapeutic rectal irrigations in accordance with established medical instrucitons. Be willing and able to perform this care independently after training, where required.
- Pediatric Clinical Tracking: Maintain daily logs tracking bowel movements and allergy symptoms.
- Observe for symptoms identified by the child's medical team, including signs that may require prompt medical assessment, and immediately notify the parents or seek emergency care in accordance with established emergency instructions.
- Record diaper output and other observations as requested by the parents and health care providers.
- Allergy Management: Follow the child's established allergy management plan. Prepare allergy-safe meals and snacks. Prevent cross contamination.
- Must be willing to complete training in the use of an epinephrine auto-injector ("EpiPen") and be capable of administering one in an emergency.
- Immediately contact parents and emergency medical services as required.
- Infant Hygiene & Physical Care: Bathe, dress, and tend to the physical hygiene of the infant, including changing diapers and supporting potty training when developmentally appropriate.
- Meal Preparation & Feeding: Prepare bottles and meals in accordance with parental instructions. Prepare nutritious meals and snacks that comply with the child's dietary restrictions, allergy management plan, and bowel care requirements.
- Developmental & Emotional Support: Tend to the emotional well-being of the infant, actively support their early milestones, and oversee scheduled daily rest and nap periods.
- Foster language, motor, social, and cognitive development through age-appropriate activities.
- Developmental Activities: Plan and lead age-appropriate educational play through organized indoor and outdoor activities, including reading, sensory crafts, and neighborhood outings.
- Targeted Cleaning & Sanitation: Wash and sterilize feeding equipment, bottles, and rectal irrigation supplies.
- Emergency Transportation: Maintain a valid BC driver's license and safely transport the child to medical appointments or emergency medical care if required.
- Employment Requirements:
- Education: Completion of Secondary School is required. Post-secondary education in nursing, early childhood education, child development, healthcare, or another related field is considered a strong asset. Equivalent experience caring for medically complex children will also be considered.
- Certifications: Current CPR and Emergency First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to employment) is required. Additional training in pediatric care or allergy management is an asset.
- Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of direct experience caring for infants is required. Experience caring for children with significant medical needs, food allergies, gastrointestinal disorders, or other complex health care needs is a strong asset.
Vacation Scheduling:
- Because of parent's professional commitments, vacation requests should be coordinated well in advance. Vacation during certain peak business periods (generally February 15 to April 15 and August 15 to October 15) may not be available except by mutual agreement.
- Reasonable flexibility regarding scheduling is expected from both employer and employee.
Pay: $20.00 per hour
