SGS Qualitest is seeking a Concrete NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) Engineer and play a vital role in ensuring the integrity and safety of concrete structures through advanced testing techniques. Duties
- Conduct non-destructive testing on concrete structures using methods such as ultrasonic testing (UPV, UPE), rebound hammer testing, ground-penetrating radar, Pile Integrity Test (PIT) and other NDT techniques to evaluate strength and detect flaws.
- Analyze test data meticulously to identify structural weaknesses or anomalies that could compromise safety or longevity.
- Conduct concrete condition assessments, including corrosion testing and durability evaluations.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, civil engineers, and construction teams to integrate NDT findings into project planning and quality assurance processes.
- Prepare detailed reports documenting inspection results, findings, and recommended corrective actions.
- Assist in developing testing procedures and protocols aligned with industry standards and project specifications.
- Manage multiple testing schedules efficiently while maintaining strict adherence to safety regulations and quality control standards.
- Support geotechnical testing laboratory and field operations during periods of lower activity
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Civil/Geotechnical Engineering, or related discipline
- Professional Engineering Designation or eligibility for registration with APEGA
- Proven experience in construction or civil engineering environments with a focus on concrete testing or structural assessment.
- Strong knowledge of NDT methods specific to concrete structures including ultrasonic testing (UPE and UPV), rebound hammer tests, ground-penetrating radar (GPR), and related techniques.
- Familiarity with project management principles to coordinate testing activities within larger construction timelines.
- Skilled in interpreting technical data using Mathcad or similar analytical tools for precise evaluation of test results.
- Excellent communication skills for preparing reports and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.
