Position Overview
We are looking for reliable Supply Early Childhood Assistants (ECAs) to support our program on an as-needed basis. This is an excellent opportunity for students, freelancers, or educators seeking a flexible schedule. Supply staff are called in to cover staff absences, peak enrollment days, and planned events.
Availability Requirements:
- Operating Hours: Shifts typically fall between 7:30 AM - 9:00 AM and/or 2:00 PM -6:00 PM Monday to Friday.
- Full-Day Opportunities: Potential for full-day shifts (8:00 AM – 6:00 PM) during PA Days & March Break
- Other Supply Opportunities: We Play Summer Day Camp runs from July 6th- August 28th with shift assignments ranging from 8:30-1:30, 11:00-5:30, 2-5:30 & 8:30-5:30
- Note: position offers an immediate start to our supply list (We Play Summer Day Camp)
Responsibilities
- Step into the classroom on short notice, quickly adapting to the daily routine and supporting the permanent teaching staff.
- Assist in implementing engaging activities and supervision tailored to the needs of students aged 4–9.
- Provide one-on-one and group support to children—including those with special needs—ensuring all children are safely engaged and participating.
- Maintain a nurturing, positive, and energetic environment that encourages social interaction and play.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and organized setting, closely supervising children during indoor and outdoor activities.
- Maintain professional communication with permanent staff and management regarding the children’s needs and daily events.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Student in an ECE program or ECA program or ECA (Early Childhood Assistant) Diploma or Certificate
- Proven experience working with children aged 4–9 in a structured setting.
- Experience working with children with special needs is a strong asset.
- Familiarity with How Does Learning Happen? and ELECT principles.
- Must possess a valid, clean Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC).
- Current Standard First Aid & CPR Level C certification.
- Exceptional flexibility, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to build quick rapport with children and staff.
