The Key Account Manager – Retail & Licensee is responsible for developing and executing strategic sales plans to drive volume, revenue, distribution, and brand visibility across retail and licensed on-premise customers. This role manages relationships with key retail chains, independent retailers, bars, restaurants, and other licensed establishments, ensuring the achievement of commercial objectives while delivering exceptional customer service and category leadership.
This teammate will be responsible for:
Account Management & Business Development
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key retail and licensee customers.
- Create and execute annual account plans aligned with company sales and brand objectives.
- Identify opportunities to grow sales, distribution, market share, and profitability within assigned accounts.
- Negotiate pricing, promotional programs, display opportunities, and contractual agreements.
- Conduct regular business reviews with customers to assess performance and identify growth opportunities.
Sales Execution
- Achieve sales volume, revenue, distribution, and profit targets.
- Secure new listings and maintain existing product placements across retail and licensed channels.
- Ensure effective execution of promotional programs, merchandising standards, and brand initiatives.
- Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with customers to optimize stock management and product availability.
- Analyze sales trends and customer performance to drive continuous improvement.
Customer Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts.
- Develop a deep understanding of customer strategies, challenges, and growth opportunities.
- Resolve customer issues promptly and professionally.
- Build long-term partnerships that enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Market Intelligence & Category Management
- Monitor market trends, competitive activity, consumer insights, and regulatory developments within the beverage alcohol industry.
- Provide customers with category insights and recommendations to support mutual business growth.
- Collaborate with marketing and trade marketing teams to develop impactful customer programs.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, and Operations teams to deliver customer objectives.
- Support forecasting, demand planning, and promotional planning processes.
- Participate in product launches, trade events, customer presentations, and industry functions.
The skills, knowledge and experience this teammate will bring:
- University Degree in Business, Marketing, or related field is preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive sales experience within CPG, retail or beverage alcohol
- Strong commercial acumen with experience leading customer negotiations.
- Demonstrated leadership experience—either managing people or leading cross-functional initiatives.
- Advanced analytical skills with the ability to leverage data to influence customers and drive decisions.
- Exceptional communication, relationship building, and storytelling capability.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize in a dynamic environment.
- Flexible to travel across Nova Scotia and through the Maritimes as required.
