Requirements:
Bachelor of Education/Early Childhood Studies
Desired Qualifications/Skills. The ideal candidate would possess the following background, philosophy, and experience:
- A child centered, play based approach to instruction and teacher/student relationships.
- Strong knowledge of Early Literacy and Early Numeracy.
- The ability to establish productive relationships with parents.
- A commitment to continuous professional growth.
- Have experience teaching ECDP/ Kindergarten
- Have a strong knowledge of the curriculum at the early childhood level.
- Open to collaboration with an expert via coaching model.
- Love of the Arts/artistic/creative, knowledge or experience with learning through the arts.
- Have an ability to design and implement Individual Program Plans.
- Have demonstrated ability creating a classroom characterized by inclusion, equity and differentiated instruction.
- Possess superior organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Have demonstrated support the District's Big 3: Healthy and active schools, environmental stewardship and academic excellence.
- Have proven themselves to be a team player and a positive staff member with a proven ability to work as part of a collaborative team..
- Have Training in The Leader in Me (TLIM) OR be willing to participate in training provided and fully implement and support TLIM at Christina Gordon.
- Exhibit a strong work ethic and be willing to put in the effort required in the opening of a new school.
- Be flexible and willing to adapt to the inevitable challenges that will come with the opening of a new school.
- Be open to new programs and initiatives.
- Be a reflective practitioner.
- Recognize the importance of making a strong positive connection with all students, through classroom interactions as well as involvement with students outside the classroom. (ie clubs and teams)
- Be willing to participate in the school community beyond the classroom.
- Recognize the importance of promoting the school with parents and in the community.
- Have skill in involving parents as partners. (parental involvement)
- Possess an ability to create an effective team with educational assistants, parents and multidisciplinary professionals.
