WSG Energy Services is looking for Mechanical Commissioning Supervisors to join our team on projects in British Columbia.
The Mechanical Commissioning Supervisor is responsible for leading and executing all mechanical commissioning activities to ensure systems are installed, tested, and transitioned to operation safely, efficiently and in compliance with project specifications, codes, and industry standards. This role overseas mechanical system startup, functional testing, troubleshooting, and handover, acting as the primary technical authority during commissioning.
Job Responsibilities
Planning & Coordination
- Develop and implement mechanical commissioning plans, procedures, test scripts, and schedules.
- Coordinate commissioning activities with construction, engineering, controls, electrical, and operations teams.
- Verify mechanical system readiness through inspections, pre-functional checklists, and punch list closure.
Commissioning & Testing
- Lead functional, performance, and integrated testing of mechanical systems.
- Provide technical direction during equipment startup and troubleshooting.
- Validate sequences of operation in coordination with control systems.
- Support system reliability testing and operational demonstrations.
Supervision & Leadership
- Supervise and guide commissioning technicians and mechanical contractors.
- Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure commissioning milestones are achieved.
Execution & Field Activities
- Enforce commissioning protocols, safety requirements, and permit-to-work procedures.
- Witness and oversee pressure testing, flushing, chemical cleaning, and balancing activities.
- Coordinate vendor startup activities and ensure proper documentation.
Documentation & Turnover
- Review and approve mechanical test reports, checklists, and logs.
- Track deficiencies and ensure resolution prior to system acceptance.
- Compile mechanical turnover packages, including test data, O&M manuals, and as-built documentation.
- Assist with final handover and training of operations and maintenance personnel.
Compliance & Governance
- Lead the implementation, enforcement, and verification of compliance with all company policies and procedures.
- Ensure employees understand their responsibilities and authority related to company policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field or equivalent technical experience.
- Five (5+) years of demonstrated experience in Commissioning Supervision within the EPCI industry.
- Strong knowledge of commissioning processes and procedures, including experience managing commissioning work packs from initiation through to handover.
- Familiarity with industry regulations, standards, and codes applicable to commissioning activities.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and coordination skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
- Proficiency in software applications such as Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and commissioning management systems.
