About the Role
The Millwright plays a crucial role in maintaining our machines, equipment, and facility systems to ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operations. You'll keep our production floor running — from CNC and waterjet cutting to spiral wound and metal gasket fabrication — and contribute directly to plant reliability, safety, and product quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, repair, and optimize all equipment and machinery to peak efficiency, reporting any machine, safety, or quality concerns to the Manufacturing Manager.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems.
- Inspect the facility periodically to identify problems and necessary maintenance before failure occurs.
- Prepare weekly maintenance schedules, allocate work, and plan, produce, and execute work orders.
- Install, commission, and relocate machinery and equipment, including new capital equipment.
- Perform precision alignment, calibration, and reconditioning of drive systems, pumps, gearboxes, and motors.
- Fabricate and machine replacement parts, guards, and fixtures as required.
- Oversee work to anticipate, detect, and address safety hazards; apply lockout/tagout and all OH&S requirements.
- Participate in coordination of projects, including renovations and on-site projects.
- Handle administrative tasks: scheduling maintenance, monitoring spare parts/inventory levels, and pricing and purchasing parts.
- Communicate with departments and personnel on progress, timelines, and maintenance scheduling.
- Other duties as required.
Equipment Experience (Preferred)
- CNC laser cutter
- Waterjet cutting systems
- Milling and turning (manual and CNC)
- Spiral wound gasket machines, guide ring groovers, and Kammprofile equipment
- Bandsaw, circular/cut-off saw
- Coating / zinc-plating and Xylan line equipment
- Forklifts and material-handling equipment
Qualifications
Required
- Journeyman Millwright (Industrial Mechanic) ticket, or equivalent post-secondary trades training/experience.
- Industry experience in a manufacturing environment or as a qualified tradesperson.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience using a Manufacturing Information System (MIS) / ERP.
Assets
- Class 1, 2, 4, and 5 Forklift Certification.
- CNC/machining background; SolidWorks and CAM programming (e.g., GibbsCAM).
- Welding and fabrication tickets.
- Experience in sealing/gasket or precision machining operations.
